Street dance is often described as a combination of rhythm, technique, attitude, and personality. But when a young dancer steps onto an international stage, these qualities need to work together under real pressure. Qiu Qiu, the stage name of Chinese breakdancer Li Yongqiu, attracted wide attention after winning the Junior Dance Tour at the 2026 Juste Debout World Finals in Paris. He was 13 years old at the time and competed against dancers from around the world. To get more news about qiu qiu street dance winner, you can visit citynewsservice.cn official website.

For me, the most interesting part of Qiu Qiu's story is not simply the word "winner." It is the way he uses movement to show personality while remaining flexible enough to respond to different music and dance styles.

A Young Dancer With Strong Stage Presence

Qiu Qiu's age makes his achievement particularly noticeable, but age is not the main reason his performance stands out. A good street dancer needs to understand how to use space, music, timing, and body control. Qiu Qiu shows a clear ability to combine these elements.

One of his most appealing qualities is his confidence. His movements do not appear to depend entirely on big tricks. Instead, there is a sense of control between movements. A short pause, a change of direction, or a sudden shift in rhythm can make a routine much more interesting.

That kind of detail matters in street dance. A dancer who moves constantly may look energetic, but a dancer who understands when to slow down can create stronger contrast.

Breaking Technique Meets Chinese Movement

Qiu Qiu is known primarily as a breaking dancer, but his style is not limited to traditional breaking vocabulary. Reports about his performance highlight his ability to combine breaking movements with elements inspired by Chinese martial arts and traditional movement.

This combination gives his dancing a recognizable character.

Breaking usually places strong demands on balance, floor control, strength, and coordination. Martial arts, meanwhile, can emphasize posture, speed, direction, and controlled changes of force. Bringing these ideas together creates an interesting visual language.

Personally, I think this is one of the strongest features of Qiu Qiu's dancing. Instead of simply copying movements that already exist, he appears to look for ways to make familiar techniques feel more personal.

Adaptability Is a Major Advantage

One of the details that makes Qiu Qiu's 2026 victory especially interesting is his performance in a final where he had to adapt his breaking background to house and hip-hop music.

This is not an easy task for a young dancer. Different street dance styles have different rhythms, textures, and ways of using the body. A dancer who only memorizes routines can struggle when the music changes unexpectedly.

Adaptability requires listening.

Instead of thinking only about the next move, a strong dancer needs to hear the beat, understand its character, and decide how the body should respond. Qiu Qiu's ability to adjust his approach shows that his dancing is not based only on physical skills. Musical awareness is also an important part of his performance.

Competition Experience Builds Confidence

Qiu Qiu's route through the Junior Dance Tour also shows how competitive street dance works. Available competition records show him winning his Top 8 battle against Snoopy and his semifinal against Six Six before reaching the final.

Each battle presents a different challenge. The dancer has to stay focused while reacting to an opponent rather than simply performing a rehearsed stage routine.

That environment can reveal qualities that are difficult to see in ordinary performances. Quick decisions, emotional control, creativity, and confidence all become important.

In my view, this is where Qiu Qiu's performance becomes more than a collection of impressive moves. He demonstrates the mindset needed to compete.

Why Qiu Qiu Is Interesting to Young Dancers

For younger dancers, Qiu Qiu offers an encouraging example. His success suggests that technical training is important, but personal identity matters too.

Street dance has developed into a global culture, and dancers can now learn styles from many different countries. However, this does not mean everyone needs to dance in exactly the same way. Chinese dancers have increasingly explored ways to connect street dance with elements of their own culture.

Qiu Qiu fits naturally into this development.

His combination of breaking, musical response, and Chinese movement gives audiences something they can recognize as his own. That individuality may become even more important as he gains experience.

My View of Qiu Qiu's Winning Style

What I like most about Qiu Qiu is that his appeal goes beyond difficult movements. The strongest part of his dancing is the combination of control and curiosity.

He seems willing to explore different rhythms instead of staying inside one comfortable style. That makes his performances easier to remember.

Winning a major competition is certainly an important milestone, but it is only one part of a dancer's journey. At 13, Qiu Qiu still has plenty of room to develop his technique, musicality, and artistic identity.

If he continues experimenting while protecting the individuality that already makes him noticeable, his future in street dance could be very interesting to watch.
